Help for Database Access
We subscribe to a number of databases from EBSCO and all are accessible from the links below the following descriptions. Use the first if you're inside the Roswell Public Library; use the second to access EBSCO from your home computer (you'll need your library card number)
Roswell Public Library's EBSCO database subscription includes:
EBSCO Host Web - Public Library Edition (Magazine Article Summaries) - This database provides full text from nearly 400 periodicals covering general reference topics, including health, science, and other areas. In addition, EBSCO Host Web Public Library Edition offers indexing and abstracts for over 500 periodicals and full text for hundreds of important pamphlets. This database is updated daily via EBSCOhost.
NoveList - is an electronic readers advisory resource which assists fiction readers in finding new authors and titles. The product also supports library staff who are working with these readers. Through its attractive and easy-to-use interface, NoveList allows readers to use a favorite author or title as a template to locate other authors and titles of interest. Readers can also enter words that describe the contents of a book they would like to read and NoveList retrieve titles that contain these words in the books subject headings field. Users can also browse over 1000 theme-oriented booklists, award-lists and fiction related web-sites.
Auto Repair Reference Center - EBSCO's Auto Repair Reference Center is an online automobile repair resource. Locate repair procedures, wiring diagrams, plus recall information for make/model specific automobiles.

Another database we subscribe to is Bigchalk.com's Electric Library - This database contains information from books, radio, TV, magazines and newspapaer. Articles may be sent to your e-mail address.

The library also subcribes to the Gale Group's Infotrac databases. This group of databases includes information from reference books as well as from journals, newspapers, and magazines.
Some of the databases are for general information and others support academic research. One is in Spanish and indexes Spanish-language periodicals. Another provides information for educational professionals.
Seperate databases are designed to meet the information needs of elementary, middle school/junior high, and high school students.

OCLC's First Search offers access to a variety of specialized databases that allow you to identify articles, Internet sites, and other resources in particular subject areas. First Search contains so much information, please ask a Reference Librarian for help when using it the first time.

Brought to you by Proquest our two newest databases are: Heritage Quest and Ancestry Library. Heritage Quest is a database that allows you to look up people and places in America's history. This database allows you to search census, search books, search PERSI, search the Revolutionary War, and search Fredman's bank.
